Synaesthesia by Surreal Road adds Shotgun sync and Final Draft integration…

LONDON, UK – 13 September 2010

Surreal Road today announced the release of a new beta version of its production-tracking software, Synaesthesia®. The new version adds the capability to read in Final Draft® 8 screenplay files, and adds the ability to synchronize with data with Shotgun, a web-based production-tracking system.

“This is the eighth significant update to our product in as many months”, said Surreal Road’s Managing Director, Jack James., “and as with many of our new features, was based entirely on the needs of our existing users”. This new release, along with existing support for applications such as Final Cut Pro® and RED® Digital Cinema media, enables filmmakers to get control over the film-making process, from planning to post.

Synaesthesia is a database-driven application for Mac® OS X, targeted at filmmakers who need to track data across the lifetime of a production. From loading in screenplays and storyboards during pre-production, through logging action during a shoot, to creating sequences during post, it forms intelligent links out of all the data, and its gorgeous interface allows filmmakers to annotate and use modern data management techniques such as tagging in an intuitive way to keep everything organized and accessible. It was created to fulfill a need to organize the massive amounts of data and metadata that could be generated on a shoot, that simply was not being met by other software companies.

In the new version, available now, users can import Final Draft 8 documents, with the software automatically breaking down and linking scene, shot, set, character, script-note and screenplay data. Integration with Shotgun allows two-way synchronization of scenes, shots and takes with a central, collaborative server.

Synaesthesia is currently in open beta, and is available as a free download at http://synaesthesia.surrealroad.com.
