Surreal Road Releases third Beta of Revolutionary new film production software, extends beta program…

LAS VEGAS – 12 April 2010

Surreal Road today announced the release of a new beta version of its flagship product, Synaesthesia®. The new version adds the capability to read in master clip information from Final Cut Pro XML files.

“With this latest addition, Final Cut Pro becomes another, extremely convenient source for capturing metadata and linking it into Synaesthesia”, said Surreal Road’s Managing Director, Jack James. This new feature adds to an already rich toolset, such as RED® camera footage support and Google® Maps integration.

Synaesthesia is a database-driven application for Mac® OS X, targeted at filmmakers who need to track data across the lifetime of a production. From loading in screenplays and storyboards during pre-production, through logging action during a shoot, to creating sequences during post, it forms intelligent links out of all the data, and allows filmmakers to annotate and use modern data management techniques such as tagging to keep everything organized and accessible. It was created to fulfill a need to organize the massive amounts of data and metadata that could be generated on a shoot, that simply was not being met by other software companies.

Previously, Synaesthesia had been available only to a select few industry personnel, but today it is becoming available to a wider user group. “Anyone interested in downloading the new beta version can do so for free at http://synaesthesia.surrealroad.com/beta“, said James.

The beta phase is expected to run over several months before a final release, in order “to ensure people are getting exactly what they need”.
